For iOS users, this is the first time the camera translation and conversation mode will be made available. Google noted in a blog post that these new updates will be rolling out to Android and iOS users within the next few days. Tapping on each word either on the image itself or the corresponding Google search results beneath it will pull up details for the word, revealing its English translation along with a brief summary. Once Google Lens wraps up with its analysis, it will automatically highlight any words it recognizes. This allows users to train their devices camera on some foreign text, such as a street. Step 2: Translate Text Using Google Lens. It’s simple to use: “Simply tap the mic to start speaking in a selected language, then tap the mic again, and the Google Translate app will automatically recognize which of the two languages are being spoken, letting you have a more fluid conversation.” In addition to the speech translation functionality, the Google Translate app also has a Word Lens function. Better language detectionĪpart from the camera translation, the app now also includes automatic language detection in conversation mode so that a conversation between two people who don’t speak the same language just became easier. This instant translation currently works for translation from English to and from French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. The best part is that Word Lends will even work without an active Internet connection, which means if you are in a subway or any other place where you are not getting a good Internet connection, then you won’t have any problems with this app.
